Match Report: Arsenal claim statement win as they dent Man United Champions League hopes

Image
Arsenal sinks Man United  hope of a UEFA Champions League (UCL) appearance next season as they coast past Manchester United with a dominant display at the Emirates. Both teams came into this game with the view that a loss to either side will put their charge Champions League next season in jeopardy but from all indications, it looked very clear that the capital club were in pool position to take the day the moment the whistle was blown by referee, Criag Pawson. Arsenal wasted no time to pile up the misery for Ralf Rangnick and his side as Nuno Travares put the Gooners ahead just three minutes into kickoff. The summer signing got his first Arsenal goal after tapping home from close range from a Bukayo Saka shot which was parried away by De Gea towards the fullback. The Gooners continued in their aggressive fashion of play, knocking the ball around and hitting United with all round attack, and Eddie Nketiah found the back of the net for Arsenal in the 28th minute but the goal w...

Man United appoints Erik Ten Hag as manager: is this the beginning of a new era?

Image
After long weeks of speculation as to who the next Man United manager will be, the Red Devils finally give the batton to the Dutch man, Erik Ten Hag. The Ajax coach beat off competition from the likes of Mauricio Pochettino and Luis Enrique to land the Old Trafford job and will begin his reign at the helm of affairs by June. Why did Man United take Erik Ten Hag? If the board could, they'd get Mauricio Pochettino but they know the fans would easily target him. His announcement alone would generate massive backlash from the fanbase and he'd be blamed for every draw/defeat. Make no mistake about it, Manchester United fans played a HUGE role in getting Erik Ten Hag! Has the Man United rebuild clearly started? One of the good things that happened under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was that they were able to shed a lot of dead weight they were carrying from Louis van Gaal's time. The likes of Marcos Rojo, Marouane Fellaini, Chris Smalling, Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia and Ander Herrer...

Match Preview  In the last few weeks, they've been off-field issues bothering the Chelsea after the club was hit with sanctions in relation to their owner's involvement with Russian president, Vladamir Putin. The club have had to play through pains but haven't let the fans down since their turmoil began. Even with off-field issues not going well for the Blues, they have continued to sure their resilience on the pitch, winning all of their four games since the club was hit with sanctions. Season tickets holder are expected to be at Stamford Bridge in this London Derby and Thomas Tuchel's boys will look to continue their winning sprey as they look to consolidate their Champions League charge. The game should be another walk in the park for the Blues who have won 6 of their 7 games against London clubs this season and have kept a shut-out in all of those six wins. Brentford who sits 15th on the league table are certainly assured of Premier League safety. The Bees have won ...

Burnley vs Man City: Match Preview, kickoff time, team news and possible lineup

Image
Match Preview  Burnley hosting Manchester City at Turf Moore is going to be a game of the biblical David versus the Goliath but in this case it is evident the Goliath will take the day. Burnley have just 1 win on their books in five games, losing their last three games and are currently definitely having a turbulent season. The Clarets are languishing 19th on the PL log and are in dire need of redemption in their quest to escape relegation and a miraculous victory against the Citizens will tend to shape the remainder of their season. Sean Dyche's side aren't favorite here but can put up a display that can bring some dirts to Pep Guardiola's title charge if they give their visitor a harsh reception. Manchester City might begin the kickoff to this game at second on the log if Liverpool covertly win it's early kickoff against Watford and with Pep Guardiola and his charges still in the mix for the PL crown, losing is not an option. A defeat at home to Tottenham in February ...
