Burnley vs Man City: Match Preview, kickoff time, team news and possible lineup
Match Preview
Burnley hosting Manchester City at Turf Moore is going to be a game of the biblical David versus the Goliath but in this case it is evident the Goliath will take the day.
Burnley have just 1 win on their books in five games, losing their last three games and are currently definitely having a turbulent season.
The Clarets are languishing 19th on the PL log and are in dire need of redemption in their quest to escape relegation and a miraculous victory against the Citizens will tend to shape the remainder of their season. Sean Dyche's side aren't favorite here but can put up a display that can bring some dirts to Pep Guardiola's title charge if they give their visitor a harsh reception.
Manchester City might begin the kickoff to this game at second on the log if Liverpool covertly win it's early kickoff against Watford and with Pep Guardiola and his charges still in the mix for the PL crown, losing is not an option.
A defeat at home to Tottenham in February and a barren draw at Selhurst Park to Crystal Palace last month has thrown the PL title race wide open with Liverpool looking to keep the pressure on the league leaders. Man City boost a formidable Head-to-Head records against Burnley as Pep Guardiola haven't lost in any of their last six meetings against the Clarets and they look set to continue blazing the trail in that aspect as the fight for the league title intensifies going into the last 8 games.
Team News
On injury front, Burnley will be without forward, Joahnn Gudmundsson who is ill, while club captain, Ben Mee and Eric Pieters will miss the Cityzens visits due to ankle injuries and Matt Vydra is out with an elbow injury.
For Manchester City, only Ruben Dias and teenage midfielder, Criag Palmer will be the only notable absentees.
Possible Lineup and Formation
Sean Dyche is expected to stick with his traditional 4-4-2 formation that will see Nick Pope in goal, and with Ben Mee injured and Ryan Collins suspended, Phill Bardsley is expected to partner Tarkwoski at the heart of defense while Roberts and Charles Taylor stand out as fullbacks. The midfield four will comprise of Lennon, Westwood, Brownhill and Dwight McNiel as Cornet and Weghorst look to cause trouble for the opposition defense in attack.
Possible lineup
Pope, Roberts, Bardsley, Tarkwoski, Taylor, Lennon, Westwood, Brownhill, McNeil, Cornet, Weghorst.
For Man City, Pep Guardiola should go for his preferred 4-3-3 formation alongside his usual starting XI that will see Elderson in goal, Walker, Stones, Laporte and Cancelo the back four. Kelvin De Brunye alongside Rodri and Bernado Silva will run the show from the middle with Mahrez, Foden and Grealish to probe Burnley's defense.
Possible lineup
Elderson, Walker, Stones, Laporte, Cancelo, De Brunye, Rodri, B. Silva, Grealish, Foden, Mahrez.
This Turf Moore show down that will kickoff at 3pm will see Criag Pawson as the man in the middle.
